Selwyn Strachan to be admitted to Grenada Bar

One of the 17 former revolutionaries convicted for the death of ex-prime minister Maurice Bishop is expected to be admitted to the Grenada Bar Association in 2010.

Selwyn Strachan who is currently an inmate of Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) is currently writing three examinations

towards achieving his Masters in Law.

In 2000, he gained a postgraduate diploma in English Commercial Law from the University of London and is currently teaching English in the Prison Reform Programme at the prison.

Prime Minister & Minister of National Security Hon Tillman Thomas made the announcement at the last sitting of the lower house and he praised the programme stating that ” it is working well.”

Six inmates wrote the school leaving examinations in May, twenty four wrote CXC exams between May & June and thirteen are currently  pursuing university graduate programmes.

Selwyn Strachan is expected to be released in early 2010.
