It has now been three years & nine months since work was to be completed on the Grenada Cooperative Nutmeg Association’s multi-million dollar complex on Lagoon Road, and there seems to be no end in sight.
The project is running into its fifth year with approximately $8.2 million overrun and all previously announced completion dates have been passed.
Speaking to over 100 farmers at the GCNA’s Annual General Meeting, Project Manager Carlyle Glean Jr. told the gathering that an additional $6 million will be needed to have the project completed. He says $145,454.00 was spent on corecting faulty work done by the previous contractor while $325,034.27 was spent to replace material that were stolen from the site which accounted for the overrrun.
Construction began in June 2004 with completion scheduled for September 13th 2005.
The estimated cost of the project was $12.5 million.
