ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, July 3, 2015 – President of the Grenada Cricket Association (GCA) Dwain Gill has welcomed the selection of four Grenadians to the Windward Islands Under 19 Team following the WINLOTT Windward Islands Under 19 Tournament which was held in Dominica.

The four selectees are first timers Emmanuel Stewart, Jonathan Taylor and Anil Matthew along with Ryan John who was apart of last season’s squad.

In an interview with Spice Isle Sports Review on Friday, Gill says the GCA is happy for the selection of the four players.

“Ryan John we expected to get back into the Windwards team and perhaps go on to make the West Indies Under 19 team and we are also happy that Emmanuel Stewart along with Anil Matthew and Jonathan Taylor would have forced themselves into the team based on their performances.”

“Stewart no surprise to us; he got the most runs in the tournament. We are looking for him to go on and also do well in the West Indies tournament and the other players given the opportunity we expect them to do well.”

“It is going to be a trying time for the players, there’s certainly lots of cricket. They go on to the Under 17 tournament and then you have the Under 19 tournament as well but we expect out players to perform very well and hopefully go on to greater things.”

Grenada’s Under 19 Cricket team finished third in the Windward Islands tournament  behind host Dominica in second and winners St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The team is expected back in the island on Friday night.
