ST GEORGE’S, July 8, 2015 – With just seven games played in the Grenada Football Association (GFA) Premier League, newly promoted outfit Boca Juniors have found themselves atop the leader board five points clear of their nearest rival Carib Hurricane.
The club based in Plains, St. Patrick’s is the only team in the premier league who are undefeated in their games played thus far.
Formed in 2005, Boca Juniors spent three years in the second division and was promoted to the first division in 2007 after a second place finish in the second division.
The club spent five years in the first division and in 2012 gained promotion to the premier division but was relegated the next season to first division.
Since its promotion in the 2014, the team coached by Clarke John has been showing steady signs of improvement leading up to this 2015 season.
The team is led by their leading goal scorer for the club and national player Marcus Julien (4 goals) along with leading goal-keeper in the league thus far Josh Charles who has only conceded five goals.
Manager of Boca Juniors is Bruce Swan and he is quite cautious in his assessment of the squad. “The team needs to maintain mental focus. It is a long season and we do not want to get complacent. Training is an important part of our success thus far and we need to be dedicated to it.”
There are still a number of games to be played in the first round of the premier league but no doubt Boca Juniors will be aiming to maintain their lead and unbeaten run in order to bring their first league title home to Plains.
