ST GEORGE’S, July 14, 2015 – Youth Olympic Games 400m bronze medallist Meleni Rodney will represent Grenada at the 9th IAAF World Youth Championships in Cali, Colombia which runs from July 15 to 19.
Rodney, the 2015 CARIFTA Games bronze medallist is the only athlete announced by the Grenada Athletic Association to participate at the 2015 Championships.
The 17 year old will come up against a strong field in the 400m with the likes of Symone Mason (USA) US Youth champion and Salwa Eid Naser (Bahrain) Asian Youth Champion who both has the fastest time of 52.80 secs in the field.
Line-up will also see Roxana Gomez of Cuba (52.95) along with Lynna Irby of the US (53.36)
Rodney goes into the event with a season’s best 54.56 secs.
The heats for the 400m will be on July 15 with the semi-finals scheduled for July 16 and the finals July 17.
Meleni Rodney is being accompanied to the championships by Coach/Manager Conrad Francis.
