Mixed results for Team Grenada at Commonwealth Games in Samoa.

SAMOA, September 6, 2015 – It was a day of mixed results for Grenada’s athletes at the 5th Commonwealth Games being held on the Pacific Island of Samoa.

In Tennis, Oronfo Ikolo got by Harley Cronin of Samoa in singles action at the Apia Park Sports Complex. Ikolo lost the first set 3-6 and rallied to win the next two sets 7-5, 6-1 to advance to round two. Later today he teams up with Stuart Parker of Jersey to face Jean-Phillipe Murray & Ajani Thomas of S. Lucia in doubles.

On the track, Meleni Rodney failed to qualify for the finals of the Girl’s 400m after placing fifth (5th) in here in with a time of 59:00 seconds.

In the pool, Delron Felix had to settle for 7th in his heat of the Men’s 50 LC Meter Butterfly with 27.89 seconds.

Felix will again be in action on Monday in heat 2 of 3 of the Men’s 50 LC Meter Backstroke event.

Grenada is being represented in three (3) sporting disciplines Track and Field, Tennis and Swimming. Meleni Rodney and Nichioner George (Track and Field), Oronfo Ikolo (Tennis) and Delron Felix (Swimming).
