ST GEORGE’S, December 17, 2015 – Seven athletes were awarded for their performance during the 2014-2015 track and field season by St. David’s Track Blazers at a ceremony held December 12 at the Corinth Government School.
The club is celebrating its 10th Anniversary and the inaugural awards sought to recognize the athletes and athletic performances for the year.
Kennisha Pascal ran away with the Sportswoman for the year title with Carifta Gold medallist Anderson Peters claiming the Sportsman of the year award.
Junior Sportswoman of the year went to Jonair Thomas while Jared Sylvester captured the male equivalent.
Other awardees on the night were: Enron Gibbs – Athlete with leadership qualities, Yacob John – Excellent Attendance to training and Dexter Gill – Most committed Athlete to Club activities.
Honorary membership was bestowed upon former Governor General Sir Daniel Williams who is also the club’s patron, Maudlyn Ferguson who was instrumental in the formation of the club and Elvis Morain who was the first president of St. David’s Track Blazers
A lifetime achievement award was presented to Mr. Charles A. R George for his selfless years of service to the sport of Athletics in Grenada.
The awards ceremony was held under the theme “Awarding Excellence, Dedication and Perseverance as we chart the course for future successes”.
