ST GEORGE’S, January 23, 2015 – Paradise FC emerged champions of the inaugural Sandals Super 8 Knock-out Competition following a 3-2 win over rivals Hurricane SC at the National Athletic and Football Stadium on Saturday.
Rickel Augustine opened the scoring for Hurricane in the eight minute of play when his shot got pass the keeper.
Augustine completed his brace when he converted once again in the 10th minute to send the boys from sunset city up two nil.
The climatic ending to the game started in stoppage time when Lemoy Augustine got the boot having received a red card leaving Hurricane down to 10 men going into the second half of play.
On resumption of play, Paradise pulled one back in the 66th minute when Vernon Scoon hammered home from outside the box.
Six minutes later captain Jake Rennie pulled his team level when he converted from the spot following a foul by the keeper.
The champions pulled ahead 3-2 in the 84th minute when substitute Travis Rennie netted.
Hurricane got the chance to send the game into penalty shoot-out but Moran Phillip failed to convert from the spot in added time.
Paradise walked away with the title and twenty thousand dollars while Hurricane SC who are the GFA’s Premier League Champions earned seven thousand dollars for their second place finish.
