Community basketball Championships gets into high gear!

wp-1455731273865.jpgST GEORGE’S, February 18, 2016 – River Road Lakers rebounded from their opening game defeat and got the better of Sweaters United in their second game on Tuesday.

Led by Dillon Johnson’s 31 points, 9 rebounds, four assist and two steals, Lakers defeated Sweaters United 62-54.

Lakers raced off to a 25-19 lead at the end of the first quarter and despite being outscored 14-19 in the second, they went into the half up by a narrow 39-38.

Sweaters continued their good showing in the second half outscoring Lakers 23-15 but that was not enough to snatched victory.

Martin Shamar top scored to Sweaters with 22 points.

In the second game of the night, Windsor Forest Vipers had an 17 point win over Pomme Rose Ballers.

Vipers led through all quarters 23-17, 39-25, 55-40 and going on to win 66-49.

Jewel Pierre top player for Vipers with 33 points, four rebounds, one block and two steals which won him the Rick’s Cafe MVP of the game while Keron Geleneau contributed with 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Top players for Ballers were Kai Morain with 15 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists and both Neil Morain and Carmicheal St. Bernard had 11 points each.

The Championships continue on Thursday with another double-header.

In Game 1: Police will meet City Invaders at 6:30pm while Game 2 sees SGU Knights battling LA Lions at 8pm.
