Vipers strike while Knights continued streak in Basketball Championships.

richardgrahammvp.jpgST GEORGE’S, February 26, 2016 – SGU Knights extend their unbeaten streak while Vipers move to the top of second division following the latest round of games in the GrenadaHoops Basketball Championships.

Despite a double-double and game MVP performance from Richard Graham (33 points, 14 rebounds and four steals), Sweaters United were not able to derail Knights who won by 31 points.

Led by leading scorer in the Championships Dino Mellone (94 points), Knights outclassed Sweaters United to register their fourth successive victory.

Mellone had 27 points, 8 rebounds and 8 steals and was assisted by Mohammed Saed with 21 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal to help Knights outscore their opponents in all quarters 31-21, 55-31, 79-53 and going on to win 110-79.

SGU Knights lead the first division with four wins followed by Southern Elites with two wins.

Meanwhile Windsor Forest Vipers jumped to the top of the second division after a seven point win over New Hampshire Blazers.

Both teams ended the first quarter locked on 13 points each but Vipers outscored Blazers 18-14 in the second to go into the half up 31-27.

There was not turning back for Vipers in the second half of play as they extended their lead and eventually doing on to win 63-56.

Kimmore Bowen was the top player for Blazers and game MVP with 22 points and eight rebounds while Jewel Pierre was the top player for Vipers with 19 points, eight rebounds, three steals and one assist.

Vipers lead the second division with three wins followed by Police with 2 wins.

In other games played, Laborie Hawks lost to Pomme Rose Ballers 45 – 67 with Marvin Modeste’s 18 points, seven rebounds, one assist and two steals earning him the StarMalt MVP of the game and top player award for Pomme Rose Ballers.

Top players for Laborie Hawks were Nazzim Hypolite with 21 points and 19 rebounds and Paul Garraway with 10 points and 6 rebounds.

Meanwhile Tornadoes defeated Southern Pros vs. Tornadoes 68 – 61.

img_5116.jpgStarMalt MVP of the game was Kester George with 25 points, 14 rebounds, and 2 steals from Southern Pros while top players for Tornadoes were Jamol Livingston with 17 points and 5 steals and Travis Ranger had 15 points with 9 rebounds.
