New Champions to be crowned in Secondary Schools’ Cricket

Cricket-Ball-and-Bat-Images-546x365ST. GEORGE’S, April 6, 2016 – A new champion will be crowned in the Massy United Insurance Secondary Schools Senior Cricket Tournament competition come the final which is carded for April 12 at the National Stadium.

In one of two semifinal games, Defending Champions St. David’s Catholic Secondary School (SDCSS) lost by 74 runs against MacDonald College.

Batting first, MDC posted 197 for 6 off their 40 overs with Judah Matthew top scoring with 63 runs.

Todd Mitchell bagged 3 for 29 with support from Jeron Noel 2 for 28.

in reply SDCSS were dismissed for 123 in 30.3 overs.

Daniel Mc Donald top scored with 43 runs while Kenroy Charles was pick of the bowlers with 3 for 7 and Meshach Frame 3 for 37.

MDC will meet Grenada Christian Academy (GCA) who had a comprehensive 205 run victory over Westerhall Secondary School (WHSS).

Batting first GCA posted 249 for 9 off their 40 overs with Shakim Charles and Haston Jackson top scoring on 75 and 46 respectively.

In reply WHSS were skittled out for 44 in 13 overs.

Kelvin Charles had a respectable score of 12 while Shakim Charles was pick of the bowlers with 6 for 23.

The final of the Massy United Insurance Secondary Schools Senior Cricket Tournament is expected to bowl off at 10:00 am on April 12 at the National Stadium.
