Wickets tumble in GCA Super 50 Inter Parish Cup

Cricket-Ball-and-Bat-Images-546x365ST. GEORGE’S, May 9, 2016 – The Grenada Cricket Association’s Super 50 Inter Parish Cup bowled off over the weekend with a full slate of matches.

On Sunday a century from Keone George and six wicket haul by Casimir Thomas guided St. David to a 125 run victory over St. John.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, St. David posted 236 in their allotted 50 overs with Keone George unbeaten on 101. His knock came off 136 deliveries which included only 4 fours and 1 six. West Indies batsman Andre Fletcher chipped in with 24 from 24 balls.

Ronnick Holder 3-43 and Omar Charles 3-32 were pick of the bowlers.

In reply St. John could only muster 111 all out in 30.0 overs with Jenson Mitchell top scoring on 36. Casimir Thomas bagged 6-44 off 10 overs while Darel Cyrus assisted with 2-10.

Over at Alston George Park, St. Patrick had a 5 wicket win over St. Mark.

Batting first St. Mark were dismissed for 134 in 31.1 overs. Nkruma Fraser top scored with 25.

Denis George bagged 5-25 off his 10 overs, Deron Hypolite 3-54 off 8.1 overs and Craig Phillip 2-15 off 5 overs.

In reply St. Patrick got to 135 for 5 in 20.3 overs with Deron Hypolite top scoring 51 off 47 balls which included 9 fours and 1 six. Essen Joseph also assisted with 40 and Devon Smith 26.

Michael Downes bagged 2-38.

Meanwhile on Saturday St. George defeated Defending Champions St. David by 10 runs.

St. George posted 245 all out in 49.2 overs with top scores from Cyprian Forsyth 79 runs off 80 balls (12 fours) and Keishon Mitchell 49 runs.

Pick of the bowlers were Ryan John 3-46 and Andre Fletcher 2-47.

In reply St. David got to 235 for 9 in 49.4 overs. Clyde Telesford 46 and Andre Fletcher 45 were the top scorers while Bronson Johnson 4-38, Javel St. Paul 2-38 and Chard Charles 2-40 were pick of the bowlers.

Over at Alston George Park St. Andrew defeated St. Mark by 5 wickets

St. Mark 152 all out 29.3 overs with Reuel Williams 45 and Lendon Lawrence 32 top scoring.

Daniel Mc Donald 4-38 and Rudolph Paul 3-25 were pick of the bowlers.

In reply St. Andrew got to 153 for 5 in 27.0 overs. Nickosi St Hillaire top scored with 50 off 56 balls (5 sixes, 1 four) while Rudolph Paul chipped in with 30.

Reuel Williams bagged 2-30.

St. George and St. David lead Zone A while St. Patrick and St. Andrew are front runners in Zone B.

The tournament continues next weekend with St. George and St. John at the National Stadium while St. Andrew and St. Patrick will battle at Progress Park for the top spot in their zone.
