ST. JOHN’S, Antigua, June 7, 2016 – Grenada’s Spice Boyz were knocked out of the Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup on Tuesday following a 5-1 loss to host Antigua & Barbuda (ANU) at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium.
Needing a win to keep their hopes alive, the Spice Boyz played out a stale mate in the first half but found themselves down 1-nil in the 58′ when Peter Byers netted home.
Ten minutes later the Benna Boys went two up as Calaum Jahraldo-Martin’s shot got pass keeper Belfon.
Jamal “Ray” Charles pulled one back for the Spice Boyz in the 73′ but the host quickly cancelled that out with two quick goals in the 76′ and 78’via Keiran Murtagh and Tevaughn Harriette respectively.
The final dagger was delivered to Grenada when Jahraldo-Martin completed his braced with a strike in the 85′ which saw the Benna Boys win in-front their home crowd 5-1.
Grenada ended bottom of their group without winning a game while Puerto Rico finished as Group leaders with two wins.
Antigua await results of other games to advance as best runners up to the next round.
