ST. GEORGE’S, July 17, 2016 – Carriacou’s Emmanuel Stewart will captain Grenada’s Under 19 Cricket Team to the Windward Islands Under 19 Tournament carded for June 20 in St. Vincent & the Grenadines.
This is the second time that Stewart will be leading a national team the first being captain of the Under 15 team.
The thirteen man squad was announced by chief selector Steve Mahon on Friday following the team’s training session at the National Stadium.
Speaking to Spice Isle Sports Review, Stewart says he will be looking to improve on his performance last season.
“It is a great feat for me personally to make the team last year.It was a great opportunity to get the most runs and I’m looking to bring that experience last year into this year’s tournament.”
The team will also see five new-comers to the fore in the likes of Jensen Mitchell, Reuel Williams, Jamal Charles, Darron Nedd and Narun Singh.
“I tried my best and went out there; did the best that I can be this season and I landed on the Under 19 team so I’m very grateful” said a happy Jensen Mitchell.
Reuel Williams believes he has performed well during this season.
“I think I played a very good season and got enough wickets so I think I deserve to be on the team.”
Narun Singh was one of the reserved players last season and is happy for making in on the team this year.
“It’s a good accomplishment since I made the reserve last year I bounced back played hard in the tournaments this year and made it.”
West Indies Under 19 player Ryan John will be vice captain.
