ST. GEORGE’S, November 14, 2016 – An unbeaten streak and a spot in the semi-finals will be on the line when the Quarter-finals of the Republic Bank Right Start Youth Football Tournament kick off.
The Grenada Boys Secondary School (GBSS) has emerged out of the Under 15 qualifiers with a perfect streak after winning their six (6) games with a maximum 18 points in Zone 2 ahead of Westmorland who were the best runners-up with 12 points having won four (4) of their 6 games.
Speaking to Spice Isle Sports Review, Head Coach Kevon James says he’s satisfied with the overall performance of the team thus far.
“In light of the 2016 right start football tournament, the GBSS Junior football team has thus far sealed a comfortable spot in the quarter finals. It must be noted that the young inexperienced team has shown itself to be a team destined to win. With such dedication to their training they were able to top their zone in fine style.”
GBSS is the only team to play unbeaten in the qualifiers and will meet Wesley College on Wednesday at the Roy St. John Recreation Ground in one of three quarter-final games played on November 16.
“The GBSS team is ready and confident to face it’s opponents. We plan to play our style of football which has been working for past few years. Our eyes are set on the victory which lies before us,thus with team spirit we intended to press unto the end being named the 2016 Right Start Under 15 Boys Champions.”
Defending Under 15 Champions St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School (SAASS) also advanced after winning Zone 3 with 14 points. SAASS will come up against Westmorland Secondary School at Victoria Park in Grenville on Wednesday.
