Pascal and Radix reign in Half Marathon!

ST. GEORGE’S, November 22, 2016 – St. David’s Track Blazers dominated the 2016 Grenadian General Insurance Half Marathon held over the weekend.

The race took participants from Corinth Government School through Red Gate, Westerhall, Calivigny, The Cliff, Woodlands/Springs Junction, Grand Anse Valley, Grand Anse, Belmont, Lagoon Road, the Carenage, Melville Street ending at the National Athletics Stadium Car Park.

At the completion of the event Kennisha Pascal and Reon Radix were the winners in the female and male categories respectively.

In the female division Pascal finished in a time of 1:37:25.9 ahead of Kellie-Ann Alexander (Grenada Christian Academy) 1:51:02, Tanya Visser 1:51:49, Eden Wanke (SGU) 2:10:25, Kaira Daniel (SDTB) 2:16:55 and Deslyn Bartholomew 2:29:20.

On the male side, Radix (SDTB) crossed the line in a time of 1:24:1 ahead of team mate Sherwin Paul (SDTB) 1:26:30 with Tallan James of Beacon Southern Pros (BSP) 1:28:40, Bernard Joseph (BSP) and Nathan Hood (BSP) 1:34:40.

This year there was a 10K component of the event which attracted over 30 athletes under 15 years of age.

Kayshia Dominique (SDTB) won the female category in a time of 52:30.24 ahead of team mates Kadisha Debellotte (SDTB) 53:52.61 and Kevilha Lumpriss (SDTB) 53:53.09

Meanwhile, Romeo Bastaldo of South City Rising Stars (SCRS) won the male division in a time of 39:02.66 ahead of his teammates Donrick Britton 42:02.84, Akim Frederick 43:49.16 and Deron Sharpe 46:13.23.
Monetary prizes were awarded to the first ten (10) male and ten (10) female finishers
of the half marathon together with the youngest and oldest finishers and the first five
(5) male and five (5) female finishers of the 10k.
St. David’s Track Blazers won the special prize for club with the largest number of finishers.
