ST. GEORGE’S, March 9, 2018 – The Regional Police T2O Cricket Tournament which was previously called the RSS Cricket Festival makes it way back to Grenada March 26 to April 2.
The tournament was conceived in 2009 by then Commissioners James Clarkson (Grenada) and Keith Miller (SVG) following discussions at an ACCP Meeting.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (SVGPF) and Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) were the first two forces to make good on this initiative as the tournament was started in 2010 over the Easter Weekend.
In 2015 an invitation was extended to the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) and Trinidad and Tobago Police Services (TTPS) which they accepted. However, the tournament name had to be changed as TTPS is not a member state of the RSS.
The T20 Cricket Tournament has grown over the years as the officers have been able to foster better social and working relationships through sport.
Sergeant Allan James, Secretary of the Police Sports Club Inc. believes that the tournament has help the officers over the years build stronger networking and has help in sharing ideas as to the different policing practices through the competing countries.
St. Lucia, St. Vincent & Grenadines, Grenada, St. Kitts & Nevis, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados are the participating territories with each alternating hosting.
The tournament begins on March 26 with the final expected to be played on April 2 which is Easter Monday.
